2014 Holiday Gift Guide + Giveaway

Hi everyone!! I hope you’ve all been well. I’ve been a bit under-the-weather lately hence my lack of posting—tis’ the time of year to fight colds after all.

Before getting deep into shopping ideas, when was the last time you were truly excited about a gift you’ve received? I mean truly excited, as when you were young. For me it was last year Christmas time when Ryan surprised me with a pink Hoodie Footie. I truly wasn’t expecting it—and I found it so surprising!—as I’d asked for plenty of Bath and Bodyworks Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Lotions, which he also delivered brilliantly. Before this surprise, it’d been years. I think most of us can relate to this feeling to some degree, which is why when putting together my first gift guide I wanted to focus on timeless thoughtful gestures—the kind that leave a lasting impression even after the excitement of receiving something physical wears off.

A recap of what was covered in the video:

1.      Offering a bit of extra help for free—aka your time.

2.      An email—to someone whom you share or shared a formal distant relationship. A quick email, while impersonal, is actually really thoughtful and often well received. It can be as simple as saying, “Thank you for everything. Happy Holidays.”

3.      Holiday Card

4.      Something you created—baked goods, drawing, ect.

5.      Parts of a gift set—sometimes you want to give a little more than any of the above but you just can’t afford to—I personally sometimes can’t afford to sometimes.

6.      Gift basket/box of chocolate—these are just a few ideas to gift a group.

~More Ideas~

While editing I thought of a few other ideas that I’ve personally loved or that I would love to be gifted.

Coffee mugs

I see a coffee mug as a gift that keeps on giving. I personally attribute many memorable memories to particular coffee mug.

Here are a few really lovely mugs from Etsy seller Printble Wisdom:

Just a word of caution as to choosing a particular mug, don’t go for the shiny metallic ones. They tend to tarnish quite easily.

Journals

Journals are a great gift to your list writing, annoyingly overly organized friend—especially the bloggy type. Ecojot has a great selection:

Candles

Candles make great gifts year round. I’m a big fan of Bath and Body Works and Yankee Candles as they are really fragrant and often on sale. I love these brands so much that I often forget that there are plenty of small companies that offer a great selection. Here are a few:

1.      Frostbeard

2.      Unwinedmyrtlebeach

Pictures

When was the last time you actually printed some pictures for yourself? For me it was two years ago, shortly after realizing that Ryan and I didn’t have any pictures of us together. Chances are, someone you find challenging to shop for will really appreciate a few of their favorite pictures—you could pull off of Facebook or Instagram.

Books

If you’re Raj from Frasier you’d not appreciate this gift but chances are most would probably appreciate this gift—especially when it’s special to you and you share that with the recipient.

ModCloth not only offers a great assortment of polka dot dresses but also a lot of really neat gift ideas. I am especially fond of their book selection:

Christmas Ornaments

Most of my ornaments have been gifted to me...I’ve probably purchased four but the rest were presents from my soon to be mother-in-law. I don’t know where she purchased them but here are a few Etsy Shops that offer some really special products.

1.      WhiteLilieDesigns

2.      Fairyfolk and The Magic Onions—add acorns and they ship for free!

I hope you enjoyed this post. If you did you  may also want to follow me on BloglovinInstagram & Twitter!
