Petit Vour: November 2014 Box Subscription Review

Petit Vour Subscription Review for November 2014 Box

Oh my goodness! Am-I-behind! I could skip this post and just post the review of my December box but to be honest—I REALLY love the products and didn’t want to miss an opportunity to share my thoughts with you.

If you’ve never heard of Petit Vour (PV), they are one of the best beauty subscriptions, in my humble opinion. They curate cruelty-free quality products and provide members with 4-5  generously sized beauty products.

This month I received 5 products: a lip tint, a body oil, a serum, a concealer and an eye shadow stick. So, let’s start with a product I absolutely love!

French Girl Organics Lip Tint

French Girl Organics Lip Tint in the color Cerise is not only moisturizing, but it also leaves a lovely hint of color. It also tastes slightly sweet, which is a great detail. Its application is so smooth and luxurious, it's really heard not to love!

Ingredients: organic olive oil, organic coconut oil, organic shea butter, organic palm oil, wildcrafted candelilla wax, organic jojoba oil, rosemary extract, iron oxides, rose otto and sea buckthorn organic oils, rose geranium and peppermint organic oils, non gmo vitamin e

Something I also found really interesting is that the French Girl Organics is an Etsy shop. I love that! I love supporting small up-and-coming companies and I love that PV does as well. Kristeen is the shop owner and offers sooo many products that I’m seriously coveting. As soon as one of my essentials runs out, I’ll be sure to reference her shop.

Earthbody Body Oil in Dream

My next favorite product was this little gem. This body oil was designed to enhance mental clarity and assist in restoring moisture. It makes use of frankincense, lavender and sandalwood and to me is smells of warm citrus—hopefully that description makes sense. I don’t know about mental clarity, but I do believe that it makes me feel quite calm. I keep it next to my desk at work and find myself reaching for it quite often given it’s calming properties.

Sometimes I wonder if aroma therapy really works; at other times I’m thoroughly convinced that it works. Anyone else feel that way?

Ingredients: Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil*, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil*, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Seed Oil, Artemesia Vulgaris (Mugwort) Flower, Santalum Spicatum (Sandalwood) Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, -Aniba Rosaeodora (Rosewood) Wood Oil ~ *CERTIFIED ORGANIC BY OTCO

Caru Skincare Co Rose Facial Serum

I love the idea of this product! I love everything about it. This product is made with rose, geranium and carrot seed. It is formulated to hydrate and nourish, day and night, and it has such a lovely scent!

I received my subscription in late November and didn’t get around to trying out this product until the first week of December, roughly. At that point my skin was seriously panicking given Las Vegas’s abrupt change in weather. My skin was quite dry and as a result, I also battled a breakout. (I’m actually still battling it a bit.) So, I turned to this product with high hopes that it would provide me with great results. Unfortunately it didn’t. I used it two nights in a row and on the first night my skin had a strong reaction to it. It became reddish, especially in my problem areas. At first I thought it had to do with the severity of my dry skin, but then I tried it for a second time and , almost instantaneously, it produced red bumps in the same problem areas and also more redness. I read in this article on New Beauty that the higher the concentration of certain essential oils, the more likely it is to cause skin inflammation on those of us that experience such reactions. Guess I’m just going to have to stick to lower concentrated oils. Yay…honestly, I think I’ll just try diluting it at some point. I’ll let you know how that goes.

Ingredients: Jojoba oil*, Pomegranate oil, Evening Primrose oil*, Rosehip oil*, Rose essential oil*, Geranium essential oil*, Carrot Seed essential oil*, essential oil blend*

Au Natural: Canceler & Cream Eye Shadow

Oh my goodness!! I wanted to love these as well—both of them. I do love the concealer. Not for concealing, but rather for highlighting. I find it very moisturizing but unfortunately, not very long lasting. I think I should note that I have oily to combination skin—more on the oily than combination side though so I have a strong suspicion that that is the reason for its lackluster performance.

Ingredients: Organic Castor Oil, Mica, Wildcrafted Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Organic Simmondsia Chinsis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Castor Wax, Iron Oxides, Kaolin, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Oleoresin, Organic Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, Organic Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Zinc Oxide (Non-Nano), Organic Maranta Arledinacea

The eye shadow stick on the other hand, wasn’t the best. I used it for a week straight hoping that I could find the right combination that could work for me. I used no primer; two Urban Decay primers, greed and the original formula; I tired setting it with powder shadow, but nothing worked. Again, I have to note that I do have oily skin and that trait extends to my eyelids.

Ingredients: Organic Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Fractionated Coconut Oil), Organic Castor Oil, Mica, Wildcrafted Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Organic Simmondsia Chinsis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Castor Wax, Tapioca Starch, Iron Oxides, Kaolin

Have you tried any of these products or have any natural products you’re really impressed with? I am currently on the lookout for an awesome cruelty-free concealer given that I have quite a hefty bump on my cheek I've been working on for what seems like a lifetime--kidding.
